Love Letters to Graphite

I've been exploring a lot with my dream-material, water-soluble graphite putty (plus a few sneaks using india ink). Here is a growing collection of moody, intuitive portraits made by being playful and slapping the brush thickly loaded with wet graphite that I began in early 2020. The graphite remains suspended and above the water on the surface before its sediment settles into the paper in surprising and mysterious ways.
