I began playing around with making non-photo cyanotypes in 2021. Cyanotype is an alternative photographic process where light-sensitive chemicals are applied to a surface like paper or fabric, exposed to UV light, and developed with water to create brilliant blue and white images.
As a printmaker, this process lends itself to the magic I crave: multiple moving parts, set-it-and-forget-it, weird chemicals, images sinking into the paper, surprises, transformation. This body of work developed for transmogrified, a two-person show with ahuva s. zaslavsky and I at Catalyst in Ashland, Oregon, on view May/June 2023. For more on this process - not at all technical, more like a manifesto - you may purchase my zine!
